Dr. Anaka Aiyar and I discuss the effects of public health insurance on infant mortality rates in India. The Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) program in India provides public insurance for a very low price. Anaka studies the effects that this program has on public health outcomes. We focus on her paper co-authored with Dr. Naveen Sunder, “Health Insurance and Infant Mortality: Evidence from India”. Anaka is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno in the economics department.
